Story
Reviving a 150-Year-Old Japanese Smithy: Hiroshi Kajihara’s Stainless Steel Knives
Blacksmith Hiroshi Kajihara is the youngest son of the Kajihara family and was, unexpectedly, the one to save the smithy from closing down.
Today, he works with four apprentices, learning alongside and supporting each other, as well as both the surrounding community and the 150-year-long history and tradition of the Kurotori smithy.

History
The Kajiwara family has been handcrafting knives and tools in Kochi since the Meiji era. Now in its 4th and 6th generations, the blacksmiths continue to forge high-quality blades for forestry, farming, hunting, and home use—using traditional methods from start to finish.

History
Kurotori stainless knives have a beautiful mirror-like finish, reflecting the smithy's passion and skills.
How to Sharpen your knife
Caring for your knife will make it last you for decades. After use, wash it with clean hot water, dry it off thoroughly, and place it in newspaper to prevent rusting. Check out the video below for more information on how to sharpen your knife with a sharpening stone, and how to store it safely.
