Refund policy
We have a 30-day return policy, which means you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase. Please note that the customer must pay return shipping costs. We likewise cannot refund any import duties/taxes you may have already paid upon delivery.

If your return is accepted, we’ll send you instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.

Damages and issues
Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.
Exceptions / non-returnable items
Certain types of items cannot be returned, like perishable goods (such as food, flowers, or plants), custom products (such as special orders or personalized items), orders with customized engravings, and personal care goods (such as beauty products). Please get in touch if you have questions or concerns about your specific item.
Exchanges
The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item.
European Union 14-day cooling off period
Notwithstanding the above, if the merchandise is being shipped into the European Union, you have the right to cancel or return your order within 14 days, for any reason and without a justification. As above, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase. Does not apply to made-to-order or personalized items.
Custom-Made Products & Duties Policy
All sales of custom-made products, including made-to-order and personalized items, are final from the time of purchase. These items are non-cancellable, non-returnable, and non-refundable once an order has been placed.
While most items are shipped on a DDU (Delivered Duties Unpaid) basis—meaning customs duties and import taxes are the responsibility of the customer upon delivery—custom-made products may, in certain cases, be shipped on a DDP (Delivered Duties Paid) basis for customers in select countries. In such cases, applicable duties and taxes will be calculated and included at checkout.

Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method within 10 business days. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.

US Customs Duties & Taxes (Effective May 8, 2026)
As of May 8, 2026, all orders shipped to customers located in the United States include applicable customs duties and import taxes in the final purchase price shown at checkout.
All US orders are shipped on a DDP (Delivered Duties Paid) basis. This means that customs duties and import taxes are prepaid before shipment, and customers should not be required to pay additional customs fees upon delivery.
Our goal is to provide a smoother and more predictable delivery experience for our US customers, with no unexpected import charges after purchase.
Orders Placed Before May 8, 2026
Orders placed prior to May 8, 2026 do not include customs duties or import taxes in the purchase price.
For these orders, customs duties may:
- be collected by the shipping carrier upon delivery, or
- be prepaid directly to Japanese Food Craftsman prior to shipment if arrangements are made in advance.
Customers remain responsible for any applicable import duties, taxes, or customs clearance fees on purchases made before May 8, 2026.
