長崎県島原市で三代続く鍛造の伝統
現在 59 歳の鍛冶屋の 3 代目である裕之さんは、高校卒業後すぐにナイフの鍛造を始め、今でも父親の技術に負けないように努力していると謙虚に認めます。現在、彼は高校卒業後すぐに鍛冶を始めた息子の井上裕貴と協力して働いています。彼らは共に、伝統を尊重しながら、着実な成長と革新を受け入れながら、日々技術を磨き続けています。
この家族は困難と再生の両方を経験してきました。 1992 年、雲仙岳の噴火による壊滅的な土砂崩れにより、元の鍛冶場が破壊されました。しかし、家族は諦めず、自分たちの手で建物を再建し、自分たちの工芸品と遺産を守り続けました。
重光刃物では、軟鉄の層の間に高炭素鋼を挟むという昔ながらの製法を用いて、包丁を一本一本丁寧に手鍛造しています。これらのブレードはステンレスではありません。錆びないように注意する必要がありますが、その代わりに、ステンレス鋼には匹敵しない切れ味とエッジの保持力を提供します。

A handcrafted double-bevel Santoku knife made from Shirogami (white steel) No.1, prized for its razor-sharp edge and excellent edge retention.
Forged by hand at Shigemitsu Hamono in Nagasaki, this blade features a traditional kurouchi finish and is engraved with the smithy’s signature. The lightweight magnolia wood handle offers a natural, comfortable grip.
Includes a small whetstone to help maintain your edge.
