About the Craftsman
黒鳥は、高知県四万十町に拠点を置き、150年以上続く家族経営の鍛冶屋です。その家系は安芸郡黒鳥村に始まり、川島家はかつてこの地域で有名な鍛冶屋でした。明治初期に川島嫡流が跡継ぎなく途絶えた後、鍛冶の高弟たちがその伝統を引き継いだ。三代目 梶原平治が東俣（現四万十町）に移住し、新たに黒鳥鍛冶場を設立。
黒鳥は現在四代目を率い、地元の人々のニーズを踏まえて日常使いの刃物を作り続けています。当初は鎌、手斧、剪定刃などの森林・農業用具に重点を置いていましたが、現在では実用的なデザインと手作りへのこだわりを維持しながら、包丁やステンレス製の工具も製造しています。
