Description
The Shirou Kunimitsu Special Kurouchi Vegetable Funayuki Knife is a handcrafted Japanese kitchen knife by Akimitsu Komiya and his family, blacksmiths in charge of the Shirou Kunimitsu workshop in Omuta city, Fukuoka prefecture. This double-edge funayuki knife is crafted in Shirogami No. 1 Steel following the same techniques as Japanese katana swords, other of the specialties of the workshop. It features a kurouchi finish with magnolia wood handle.
About the Blade Shape: With its origins as a fisherman's boat knife, Funayuki knives have become popular in Japan as an alternative for vegetable, poultry and fish home cooking. Featuring a slight curve towards a pronounced tip, it blends aspects of Santoku, Gyuto and Deba blades for precise slicing, small fish filleting, breaking down poultry and general vegetable kitchen related tasks.
