Grandson Yuuki Inoue has watched and learned from his grandfather and father creating handmade ceramic pieces since childhood. Now in his 30s, he is going his own way, combining traditional techniques he was taught with modern designs of his own creation.
Manji Inoue
Grandfather Manji Inoue has dedicated his over 90 years of life to the art of handmade ceramics, and was rewarded by being named Living National Treasure and receving the Order of the Rising Sun.
He has participated in exhibitions all over the world, with his artwork receiving recognition internationally.
At the Inoue Manji Kiln, ceramic master Manji-san works together with his grandson Yuki Inoue in the renowned pottery town of Arita.
While he creates artworks mainly focusing on white porcelain, his grandson creates modern colorful designs with an action painting twist.
Delicate pottery inspired by and born from the beautiful nature of Arita prefecture, two generations work side by side sharing traditional techniques and new design ideas to combine them into pieces of art.
