Preserving a Vanishing Craft
We travel across Japan to uncover the hidden stories behind some of the country’s most amazing handcrafted knives. From remote mountain towns to historic smithing villages, we visit local blacksmiths, meet the craftsmen face to face, and learn about their unique techniques and traditions.
Through our YouTube channel, we support these craftspeople by introducing their legacy to the world. We purchase knives directly from them — not from wholesalers or middlemen — ensuring that more of the value goes back to the hands that forged each blade.
Many of these blacksmiths work alone or in small family-run workshops. Some have no apprentices or successors, meaning their craft may fade away with this generation. That makes every piece not just a rare tool, but a story worth preserving — and a tribute to a vanishing form of art.
