MEET THE ARTISAN BEHIND KAJIHARA HAMONO
For more than a century, blade making has been passed down through the Kajihara family.
Today, Kajihara Hamono continues this tradition as a fourth-generation workshop.
The current maker, Yamauchi san, did not begin his work life as a blacksmith.
Originally an office worker, he entered the world of bladesmithing after marriage and trained under his father-in-law for twenty years.
In 2023, he took charge of the workshop, with the belief that good knives should be reliable, practical, and accessible, and that each knife should be hand-forged with a focus on quality and durability.
“These are not art pieces. They are cooking tools.
I hope you enjoy using them and cooking with them.”
- Yamauchi san, blacksmith at Kajihara Hamono
Every blade is made to be used and enjoyed in everyday cooking.
