Story
Forging the Future: A Lone Blacksmith’s Legacy
In the small town of Minamisaki in Kumamoto Prefecture, craftsman Nishida-san sits in front of his forge, crafting true Japanese-style knives.
Nishida-san has spent over 20 years mastering the art and soul of blacksmithing. With each swing of his hammer, he strives to create an even sharper, higher quality knife. A one-man operation, Nishida-san carries out the entire crafting process by himself, from start to finish.
In a world where traditional handcrafting traditions are slowly disappearing in the face of mass production, Nishida-san works hard to keep the centuries-old tradition of honwarikomi alive.

How to Sharpen your knife
Caring for your knife will make it last you for decades. After use, wash it with clean hot water, dry it off thoroughly, and place it in newspaper to prevent rusting. Check out the video below for more information on how to sharpen your knife with a sharpening stone, and how to store it safely.
