Nakiri Knife

$129.99

Includes:

  • Kurouchi 'Nakiri' Kitchen Knife (handcrafted from steel, 17cm blade length, 180g weight)
  • Red Sharpening Stone (15cm x 4cm x 3cm)
  • FREE WORLDWIDE SHIPPING

This is a handcrafted double-bevel knife made of Aogami No. 2 steel and soft iron. It was crafted using the traditional "Hon-Warikomi" technique at the Nakamura Hamono smithy in Oita Prefecture.

Nakiri knives are great for cutting all kinds of vegetables - including hard ones such as pumpkin.

It has a Sakura wood handle, and the blade is engraved with the signature of the smithy. The pack includes a small whetstone you can use to keep your blade clean and sharp.

*Each knife is crafted by hand, so there may be slight variations in weight and dimensions. We ask for your kind understanding.

*Depending on the number of orders and smithy availability, it can occasionally take up to 3 weeks for your knife to ship.

*This knife is made from steel, so it is normal for a certain amount of rust to form over time. Please use the sharpening stone included with your order to remove any rust. You will find a video which explains how to sharpen your knife at the bottom of this page.

*Depending on the value of your order and local import rules in your country, you may be required to pay additional import taxes when your package arrives.

My second order!

If the character of a blade were heavy, you would not be able to lift these knives. Like everyone else, I saw the You Tube video of the construction in Japan of these wonderful knives. They are genuine works of masters. Until you hold one and see how the San Mai steel shows through and feel the smooth yet so slightly rough natural handles, no one could express their quality. You can see each of the power hammer strikes and I would describe them as razor sharp. (I collected Gerber knives for over 40 years... so yes, I know sharp.) The balance in the hand and at the pinch point is indescribably satisfying. I am honored to own the three I have purchased and I shall own more. Simplicity with abundant character. Thank you. Nakiri

Love the knife! Beautiful craftsmanship and proud to own and show it off! Would definitely by another one! The only thing I could say negative is that it could be a little sharper out of the box! After a good sharpening it's very nice to use! I recommend!
