The item I want to buy says "Preorder now." When can I expect it to be available?

Although we try to mention estimate times, production time varies greatly depending on the item and the artisan’s workload, so they cannot provide us with a specific date. Some products restock within a few weeks, while others may take 2–3 months. 

Many of our products come from niche workshops and kilns with small teams of highly skilled artisans. These artists put the utmost care into their work so that every detail meets the highest standards. 

To maintain this high quality, their work cannot be rushed. We appreciate your understanding of their process and value of their craftsmanship.

Also, please note we do not offer a wait list.

When will my "preorder" ship?

If your order includes both in-stock and preordered items, your entire order will ship once the preordered items arrive at the warehouse.

When can I modify or cancel an order?

You can cancel or modify an item or your order at any moment before it’s packed and processed for shipment.

You will receive email updates from order confirmation to shipping confirmation with tracking links so you cna monitor the current status of your order.

How do I modify or cancel my order

If you need to modify or cancel your order, please contact us at info@japanese-food-craftsman.com with your request. We will typically respond within 1–2 business days.

What payment methods can I use?

At December 2025, we accept the following payment methods:

  • Online Payment: PayPal, Shop Pay, Google Pay, Apple pay, iDEAL, Bancontact

Our website uses as well SSL encryption technology to protect your personal information and ensure all transactions are secure.

I didn't get an order confirmation email

We automatically send a confirmation email after you complete your order to the address you provided at checkout.‹This email includes your order number, order information and a link to view your order status.

If you haven’t received the email after 24 hours, please check:

  • If there was a typo in the email address you gave us
  • If the email is in your spam or promotions folder
  • If your payment went through (please check your card or PayPal statement)

I placed an order, but I didn't hear any news about shipping

Your order confirmation email includes a "View your order" button. When you click on it, it will show you the status of your order, of the shipping and the payment confirmation.

Also, once your order has left our warehouse and we get a tracking number, you will receive a separate shipping confirmation email with the tracking number and a link to check the status of your delivery.

My discount code it's not working

If your discount code isn't working, please check:

  • Has the code expired?
  • Are there extra spaces or typos when entering it?
  • Is the code being used with excluded items (some codes do not apply to specific products)?
  • Some codes cannot be combined with other discounts.

I forgot to use my discount code. Can I still apply it?

Unfortunately, we cannot apply discount codes after an order is completed or after the discount period has passed.

However, if your order hasn't shipped yet, we may be able to help.

In very specific cases we may offer a new discount code for future use.

How much does shipping cost?

We proudly offer free worldwide shipping from Japan.

Shipping costs are included in product prices (excluding returns and customs if applicable).

Will I have to pay customs duties or VAT?

Import duties, VAT, or local customs taxes may apply once your order reaches your country.

These are set by your local customs authority and are not included in our product prices. We suggest contacting the responsible institutions to find more information.

They must be paid by the customer upon delivery.

FOR U.S. CUSTOMERS: Beginning August 26, 2025, consumers have reported anywhere from 20% to 80% import taxes due changes in tariffs regulations. Please note that these taxes are not included in our free shipping and that are the customer's responsibility.

Can I change my shipping address after ordering?

If your order hasn’t been processed for shipping yet, we can change the address.‹ Please contact our support team as soon as possible with your order number.

What shipping carriers do you use?

We use trusted carriers:

  • United States of America, Canada: DHL Express, UPS
  • United Kingdom: EMS Japan Post Express Mail Service
  • Rest of countries: Japan Post International Courier

All shipments are securely packed and trackable.

How long will it take to receive my order?

Delivery varies based on your location:

  • United States and Canada: 5-10 business days
  • UK, EU, Australia: 7-10 business days
  • Rest of Countries: 2 to 5 weeks depending on final destination.

Please note these are estimates and may vary due to customs processing, local postal service, rural location or holidays.

Also, after your order is confirmed, it typically takes 3-5 business days for dispatch from our warehouse. You'll receive a shipping confirmation email with a tracking number once your order has shipped.

I haven’t received my order. What should I do?

Please check your tracking number first included in your shipping confirmation email. If it shows as delivered, check with neighbors or your delivery office. If you still can't locate it, contact our support team.

Can I return my item?

We hope you enjoy your purchase. However, if you are not compeltely satisfied, we accept returns within 30 days of delivery if unused and in original condition. Please, note that the customer will be responsible for return shipping costs to Japan.

If an item arrives damaged or defective, contact us with your order number and photos. We’ll review each case individually and will work to find a satisfactory solution.

What is your refund policy?

Refunds are decided on a case-by-case basis after talking with our custoemr support team.

If after that we find that you are entitled to a total or partial refund, you will be reimbursed through the initial payment method. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process it.
