About the Craftsman
Located in Izumo City, Shimane Prefecture, Takahashi Blacksmith is a traditional rural blacksmith that has been crafting essential tools for daily life and farming work for over 100 years. The workshop has been passed down through four generations, with the current master, Tsutomu Takahashi, continuing to uphold its legacy.
The region is historically renowned for an ancient smelting technique, and also home to the Yamata-no-Orochi legend, where a legendary sword was discovered within the slain serpent’s body—a testament to the area's deep connection with ironworking.
Takahashi Blacksmith creates authentic and rustic tools for everyday life. All their knives are hand-forged using locally sourced high-carbon steel and traditional tempering methods, ensuring a perfect balance of sharpness, strength, and longevity.
